What could be better, a good feed of snapper and flathead caught while on a fishermans package with accommodation and fishing trip included in the one value packed deal.
Flathead - other name - Lizards. Though the flathead has always been appreciated as a fine food fish it was until recently regarded as without merit as a sporting fish. In the past decade, however, increasing numbers of anglers are learning that if they use lures with light spinning or baitcasting (even saltwater fly) outfits to tempt some of these fish, they can find themselves engaged with a surprisingly fast predator and a very worthy sporting fish. There are more than a dozen species of flathead in Australian waters.
There is one behavioural aspect that all flathead share - they conceal themselves on the sea floor with excellent camouflage and wait for food to come to them, whether it is swimming, crawling or being swept helplessly by the currents.
